Back to back Oakville Photo Sessions
When there’s more than one teen in a family that are interested in This Is Me sessions, parents will book back to back sessions for the siblings. I spend most of the first hour working with one teen in a typical solo session format. Then, at about ten or fifteen minutes before we’d normally wrap up, I bring in the second teen and make some photos of them both together. Once we’ve got the combo shots nailed down, first teen steps aside and teen number two gets their (slightly abbreviated) solo session. Sometimes these transitions involve some quick wardrobe changes or short distance location switch, depending on the interests of each of the siblings. I do make sure that each one gets to direct their own session, compromise only coming in the “together” photos.

In many sibling pairs, the solo parts really are solo; but when I worked with Erika and Katrina the “off camera” girl hung out and chatted / coached her sister which helped create some wonderful relaxed photos. These sisters are only two years apart in age and have many of the same interests, getting along very well together, so blended photo sessions worked really well. Each of the girls picked their own solo location – Erika wanted graffiti walls and Katrina the lakefront, then we went back to their backyard that was close by to get a few more “together” photos (and included Oscar, their adorable yellow lab).

Erika and Katrina are both big skiers, which wasn’t really going to jive with a summer photo session, so we took a more portrait focus to their sessions, with the emphasis being on their fun spirits and sisterly connection.

Both the girls and mum were thrilled with the resulting images. We worked together with each of the sisters picking their favourite photos to compile into a coffee table book, and mum picked her three favourites to order a collection of gallery wrapped canvases to hang on a central wall in their home.
